Cooperative Building Solutions completed a renovation of the lobby at Haywood Electric Membership Corporation’s headquarters in Waynesville, North Carolina. For over 80 years, Haywood EMC has proudly served the rural residents of Western North Carolina, as well as parts of Rabun County, Georgia, and Oconee County, South Carolina. Today, the cooperative provides electric service to approximately 27,000 meters.

With membership steadily growing, Haywood EMC identified the need for a more functional and efficient lobby space to better serve its member-owners and staff. The project included the addition of new teller windows, an upgraded CSR space, a self-service kiosk, and new collaboration spaces. Infrastructure enhancements were also made, including HVAC system replacements, improved security features, and the installation of new furniture. The existing lobby consisted of a two-story atrium, which was infilled with steel and concrete to create more space above on the second floor. Haywood's office remained open and operational during the majority of the 8-month project duration.
